Another of my....sort of concept art? Here we have a Grey Warden with capital W, because she's from the great, feared and distant Weisshaupt Fortress. Not much of a cosy or charming place, if you remember the few words Riordan said on the matter, and this is not quite the lady with whom you would like to drink your afternoon tea. Veera Dellean is the name, by the way, and I hope you'll have a chance to see her again.....in a year or two....:B

Doing this was a long long long fun (booo, speedpainting is a distant dream of mine). I wanted to make the armour visually similar to the GW uniforms from DAII - with that amazing breast plate with (YAY!) griffons! xD

Notes: I finally discovered that custom brushes are the biggest fun. And the Snow White and the Huntsman OST I was listening to during the work was a great inspiration either!

Also I tried to learn from my mistakes and so I was very cautious not to over-shadow, over-lighten or over-saturate it. The result is not perfect but at least it won't burn up your eyes as the other things I've done sofar. And that's a huge step to better tomorrows, heee! :woohoo:

The world of Dragon Age belongs to BioWare.

Ah yes, he mentioned that the people there are the same as the climate, hard and unwelcoming(do they really need that many wardens there?)

I guess Weisshaupt wardens are mainly about doing politics. And other things. Something we may get to know in DAI, other things..... in my comics in 3-5 years! xD xD
I always imagined the Anderfels as a snowy land, like Finland or Island, but what I saw from the new concepts is absolutely different. It is now some sort of desert, one huge wasteland with not snow storms, but dust storms. That's pretty bad, because I constructed the place according my notion (and I think they changed it only quite recently) of it being really cold and snowy and I can't/won't change it now. /:

Well you are wrong, Finland is not very snowy, it has many rivers and lakes on the other hand:D
I also thought it was snowy too, did they not say it was cold  there?

Yeah I know, (well theoretically) somebody has told me once, that it's rather a confusing reception of Finland. Nevermind. In my imagination, it is still pretty cold and snowy during winter and full of reindeers.... xD
I'm convinced that the original concept was snowy and german-like country. But later they changed it.

Well, your wrong again, reindeer's are very rare in Finland, you have to go to Norway to find reindeer's that live in the free, and to Sweden if you want to see one, cuz they are tame there and are all owned by the Samer people.
Well, they changed the elves in DA2

Well, honestly, I suck in geography. xD Everybody who knows me, knows that very well (and makes great fun out of me because of that). It's little bit disturbing I present myself here the same way! xD Especially when you happen to live near the countries I have no idea about. xD

Well, you probably outshine me on other subjects, and I did not meant to disturb you with these facts, it was not my intention. I just wanted to point out things so people will not misunderstand you, I am sorry if it sounded like I made fun of you:(

Oh, I didn't want it to sound as if I was offended! By now way! (: It is great fun for me to observe myself to fail so epically in geography again and again, no matter ho many people tried to stuff the knowledge into my head... xD You really don't have to apologise for anything, no offense was taken! (:

I love the armor! It'd be awesome to have pieces like that in the game.

Thank you! I am a dummy!
Hell yeah....not that I'd like to celebrate this particular design of mine, but some armour in game (especially DA: O) is just totally illogical. Hope stays there will be more realistic gear in DA:I.  :stinkeye:

I know. There should be warmer gear for snowy climates and lighter gear for warmer climates. I really do love it though.

Exactly. And above all, no oh-so-huge-cleavage-armour type for women. (:
Thanks again. (:

Nice piece!
It blends a practical armor design, not showing any skin or having any boobplate with a character that is clearly hardened by the ages and is still feminine to a long stretch

Heee, thank you very much! :aww: Yeah - one thing I'll never understand is the popular concept of fantasy female armour - "the less it covers, the higher defense it has". xD I'm afraid I'll never be able to design something so.....strange... (:

Ohoh, thank you! (: Well, yeah.....they're hardly mentioned in the games so there is no proper baseground for it....I hope there'll be something like "winter from Anderfels is coming" in future DAs....^^

Hopefully this won't turn into a Game of Thrones thing. Its a good series I just think Dragon age should be able to stand on its own.

Oh, true enough (there are no NUGs in GoT! :D) - I merely hope that there will be more of Anderfels in DAIII (and more badass Weisshaupt wardens(: ). Though I admit it's truly hard not to allow yourself being influenced by G.R.R. Martin at all! I guess he's some sort of 'nowadays-Tolkien'.

Love the details you put into the armor! Metal textures can be really tricky but you picked some nice variations to contrast with the leather, fur and heavy fabric. I also really like that you left her cloak dark and amorphous. It puts the atmospheric perspective into the figure and keeps the closed of distance/visibility you'd get in a snowstorm. Nicely done!

Oh, thank you very much! ^^ It's very encouraging to hear what exactly do you like in it - I really appreciate it; it shows me another perspective on how to think when I'm painting. (I admit that the cloak area is my favourite - perhaps 'cause it's so simple :))

Ha, that's good, I think I can understand that. And what about Fereldan winter? I guess it is not a matter of walk-through-the-rose-garden either. Though in Anderfells they need at least three fur layers under them and three above to keep themselves warm. And fur on boots, on cloak, on socks, on underwear. And beds from fur, blankets from fur, fur everywhere. Apparently they have heaps of reindeers in the north.....xD

Yep, Fereldan winter is serious business!! :giggle: I imagine lots and lots of sweaters and comfy wool things...and cloaks. But the headcanon about the Anderfells my friends and I share it's that it's kind of Sweden/Norway. I mostly think on Nordic countries...so that, FUR LAYERS AND WOOL. FUR EVERYWHERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FREEZE YOUR ARLATHANS.

Me the same - I mostly think of Ferelden as of some sort of England, so Anderfells is Sweden/Finland/Iceland to me. Though I'm not sure what language do they speak there - German?

Yay! FUR EVERYWHERE! (and personal herd of reindeers with jungle bells as well...) xD

Same!

Yeah...according to the wikia, the Anderfells is supposed to be some sort of mix between Siberia and "Germany" and some other places :| In our headcanons, we just say it's Sweden/Norway/Finland...and we have a Swedish "consultant", so when just have the Anders people talking Swedish :giggle:

(maybe pet reindeers instead of cats? =P)

That's the trick! Swedish is good enough, I suppose (and Swedish 'consultant' even better!). XD I'm tempted to let them speak German, but then I really wonder if it won't offend someone. Like the thing with Orlais - French + perfumes, arrogance and political affairs, etc......I hope nobody takes it personally.

Pet reindeers! :D Of course! They are very tough people, I guess they don't appreciate sweet kittens as much as some Fereldans! XD

:excited: Hee, thank you so much! ^^ Oh my, I almost forgot I've read it! And I definitely forgot that Genevieve had short white hair as well. Ho, seems I hit the old pattern - that happens to me quite often and it makes me feel very miserable because it's like I'm not competent to come up with original settings....though I suppose I should get used to this. However, I may comfort myself with the fact that this one is more badass then Genevieve was....: )
